Filament drying and moisture

Filament makers disagree by up to 10 °C (18 °F) on how to dry plain PETG: Prusament says 55 °C (131 °F), while Bambu Lab, Overture and Creality say 65 °C (149 °F).

How we verify: a figure is copied from a named source, and a missing figure stays blank.Methodology.

Key findings

  1. Plain PETG differs by 10 °C (18 °F). Prusament says 55 °C (131 °F) for 6 h. Bambu Lab, Overture, and Creality’s forced-air figure is 65 °C (149 °F). ELEGOO’s general guide runs 8–10 h. Prusa and Polymaker stop at 6 h.
  2. PLA drying temperatures in this set run from Prusament at 45 °C (113 °F) for 6 h to Eryone Standard PLA at 65–75 °C (149–167 °F) for 12 h. Eryone’s TDS lists a Vicat softening point of 54 °C (129 °F) and a glass transition of 62 °C (144 °F), both below that drying range.
  3. Nylon has the widest spread. eSUN ePA is 70 °C (158 °F) for more than 12 h. Polymaker PolyMide CoPA is 100 °C (212 °F) for 8 h. SUNLU goes up to 110 °C (230 °F). Five of six brands with a plain-PA spec call for more than 70 °C (158 °F).
  4. Some brands publish two figures. Overture’s store guide says PETG at 65 °C (149 °F) for 7 h, and its wiki says 60 °C (140 °F) for 5 h. eSUN’s TPU page gives both 55 °C (131 °F) for more than 4 h and 60 °C (140 °F) for more than 8 h. Siraya Tech’s PET-CF sheet gives both 90 °C (194 °F) and 100–120 °C (212–248 °F). Polymaker’s PETG sheets split between 60 °C (140 °F) and 65 °C (149 °F).
  5. Three of the 11 brands put a number on storage humidity: Siraya Tech below 15% RH, Bambu Lab below 20% RH sealed with desiccant, and ELEGOO below 30% RH at 15–25 °C (59–77 °F).

r/3Dprinting threads agree wet PETG strings and blobs badly and that drying fixes stringing that retraction tuning could not; several call it the filament most worth keeping in a dry box.

Method

The figures come from official technical data sheets, product pages, and the brand’s own wiki or knowledge base. A blank means that brand does not publish the figure. Fahrenheit is converted from the published Celsius. Where a brand lists several methods, the row uses the forced-air oven value and leaves the other method in the note. How we verify a catalog number is the same rule: a missing figure stays blank.
