1Bambu Lab · PLA BasicPLA
190–230 °C (374–446 °F)
35–45 °C (95–113 °F)
Datasheet

PLA Basic lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 35–45 °C (95–113 °F). Bambu's compatibility table marks standard PLA, including silk and matte, compatible with the AMS. Drying is 50 °C (122 °F) for 8 hours.

2Polymaker · Polylite PETGPETG
220–250 °C (428–482 °F)
70–90 °C (158–194 °F)
Datasheet

A second family, not a mix-in for the PLA row. PolyLite PETG lists 220–250 °C (428–482 °F) and a bed of 70–90 °C (158–194 °F). Bambu marks PETG compatible with the AMS. The two nozzle windows do not overlap.

3Bambu Lab · TPU for AMSTPU

The named exception, not ordinary TPU. This row lists 220–240 °C (428–464 °F) and a bed of 30–35 °C (86–95 °F). Bambu's TPU row in the compatibility table is Not Compatible with AMS and AMS lite. The AMS page is where that exception is already spelled out.

Print multicolor as a color change inside one family: PLA with PLA, or PETG with PETG. Feed it with an AMS only when Bambu's table says that filament can load. A manual pause is the same material rule without the feeder. PLA printing, PETG printing, silk, and runout are the related pages.

What can share a toolpath

Bambu's filament guide marks standard PLA compatible with open and enclosed printers and with the AMS and AMS lite. The note under the table says that PLA includes Basic, Matte, Tough, Metal, Silk, Aero, and Dynamic, and excludes PLA-CF, PLA-GF, Sparkle, and Marble. PETG is also marked compatible. The TPU row is Not Compatible with the AMS and AMS lite. A separate list says filament that is too soft, including TPU 95A, 85A, 83A, and 80A, is not recommended because it will not pass the channel. Certain PLA Wood is called out as too brittle for AMS lite, while PLA Metal, Wood, and Marble are marked compatible with the AMS.

PLA Basic lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 35–45 °C (95–113 °F). PolyLite PETG lists 220–250 °C (428–482 °F) and 70–90 °C (158–194 °F). Those windows meet only at the boundary, which is a practical reason not to treat them as one profile. TPU for AMS lists 220–240 °C (428–464 °F) and a bed of 30–35 °C (86–95 °F). It is a named product. The compatibility table's TPU row is still Not Compatible. The AMS answer already treats that SKU as the exception and ordinary TPU as a spool-holder filament. Bambu Lab and Polymaker are the brand indexes.

No page cited here publishes a weld strength for PLA stuck to PETG. If the part has to hold a load at the color change, stay in one family and test the joint. Do not take the absence of a number as permission.

The threads

r/FixMyPrint 1jhwm25 did not produce a silk-PLA setting in the supplied comments. Both score-1 comments are jokes.

r/3Dprinting 1odfqhj is resin, including printed teeth. The score-89 and score-17 comments are not filament advice. Resin versus FDM is that split.

r/BambuLab 15hik2k is the purge-heavy first AMS print already cited on the AMS page. The bank titles for r/BambuLab 14uype2 and r/3Dprinting 1gsxx8w are a startup purge and a pause-and-swap. No excerpt was supplied, so this page does not describe a purge volume or a pause gcode.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • The compatibility table already sorts PLA, PETG, and TPU for a multicolor feeder.
  • PLA Basic and PolyLite PETG both publish nozzle and bed ranges, so a swap has numbers.

Cons

  • The top comments in this set are jokes about a photo and a resin teeth printer. They do not name a pair of filaments that print together.
  • No manufacturer page in the sources gives a bond-strength number for PLA against PETG in one part.

What the community says

r/FixMyPrint 1jhwm25 has two score-1 comments, one about a week every month and one Hellraiser joke. They do not discuss silk PLA. r/3Dprinting 1odfqhj is a multi-material resin printer that printed teeth. The score-89 comment is a joke. The score-17 comment is about painting dental models by hand. r/BambuLab 15hik2k is already a source on the AMS page, and the bank title is a first AMS print with more than 700 filament changes. No excerpt was supplied for r/BambuLab 14uype2 or r/3Dprinting 1gsxx8w. Those bank titles are a purge before a single-color print, and pausing a non-multicolor printer to swap filament.

Questions

Can I put PLA and PETG in the same AMS print?

Both are marked compatible with the AMS as separate materials. This page does not have a published bond strength for the interface between them. Their catalog nozzle windows barely meet. Stay in one family unless you have a reason to test the joint.

Does a pause-and-change count as multicolor?

Yes. The bank title on r/3Dprinting 1gsxx8w describes that method. No comment excerpt was supplied, so this page does not add settings for the pause. The filament you load next still has to print at the nozzle temperature of the filament already on the bed.
