What glue works best for each filament?

First in this ranking: Polymaker Polylite PLA.

1Polymaker · Polylite PLAPolyLite PLA lists a nozzle of 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 25–60 °C (77–140 °F), with drying at 55 °C (131 °F) for 6 h. The weed-whacker thread used a glue stick. This row is the catalog PLA next to that bed question.PLA

Use glue on the build plate when the material welds to the sheet, and treat a glue stick as the reason a part will not release when the bond is already too strong. Build plates and bed adhesion are the two guides next to this one. PLA printing and PETG printing keep the temperatures.

PLA and PLA+

r/BambuLab 1ipuusy and r/3Dprinting 1ipv1nl say weed-whacker line printed with default PA settings and a glue stick. A comment on 1ipuusy frames that test as nylon. Neither post records a nozzle or bed temperature. PolyLite PLA is the catalog PLA beside that bed question: 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) nozzle, 25–60 °C (77–140 °F) bed.

r/FixMyPrint u150hn is the opposite problem. PLA+ is on a 500 by 500 mm glass plate with glue in between, the plate does not fit the freezer, and water plus a knife did not free it. A retrieved comment prefers isopropyl at 90% or higher. Another comment warns that a lighter can shatter the glass. eSUN PLA+ lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 50–70 °C (122–158 °F). PLA+ is the material hub.

PETG

r/FixMyPrint 11rt7q5 is three layers of PETG stuck with no glue. One comment says put the plate back on the printer, heat the bed, and peel. The next says PETG wants glue or hairspray between the print and the surface, and mentions FR4 or G10. A third comment says the glue layer is what lets the part come off, which is the reverse of how people use glue on PLA. PolyLite PETG lists 220–250 °C (428–482 °F) and 70–90 °C (158–194 °F). PETG is the material hub.

The epoxy thread

r/prusa3d 11dt1cg is a Prusacaster after an epoxy pour. The comments are about the instrument. It does not name a filament, a nozzle temperature, or a joint between printed parts.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • PLA+ and PETG are separated. Glue is the release film on the PETG thread and the bond the PLA+ thread is trying to undo.
  • The ranked rows keep their own nozzle and bed ranges. Glue does not replace those ranges.

Cons

  • These five threads never test CA glue, a two-part epoxy joint, or an acetone weld. A page that named those cements would be inventing a test.
  • The weed-whacker posts say the line printed with default PA settings and a glue stick. They do not record a nozzle or bed temperature.

What the community says

r/BambuLab 1ipuusy and r/3Dprinting 1ipv1nl are the same weed-whacker-line story: the line printed with default PA settings and a glue stick. A comment on 1ipuusy says the author wanted to test nylon without buying a spool. The high-scoring replies on 1ipv1nl joke that the hobby has come full circle. r/FixMyPrint u150hn is PLA+ glued to a large glass plate. The retrieved comments talk about isopropyl, impact, and not shocking the glass with a flame. r/FixMyPrint 11rt7q5 is PETG stuck with no glue. Comments say reheat the bed, and they say glue or hairspray is the layer that lets PETG come off PEI. r/prusa3d 11dt1cg shows a Prusacaster after an epoxy pour. The comments praise the guitar.

Questions

Does glue stick PLA+ to glass on purpose?

On r/FixMyPrint u150hn the glue is why a PLA+ part would not come off a 500 by 500 mm glass plate. Water and a knife had already failed. The build-plate guide is the release question. eSUN PLA+ still lists a bed of 50–70 °C (122–158 °F).

Why do the PETG comments ask for glue?

On r/FixMyPrint 11rt7q5 the part is three layers of PETG with no glue, stuck hard. A comment says glue or hairspray goes between PETG and the sheet so the sheet survives. PolyLite PETG lists a bed of 70–90 °C (158–194 °F). The glue layer is not a bed temperature.
