Ranked filaments
| Rank | Filament | Material | Nozzle | Bed | Price / kg | Datasheet | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Polymaker · Polylite PLAPolyLite PLA lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F), a bed of 25–60 °C (77–140 °F), 40–60 mm/s, and the fan on. r/FixMyPrint 1jyzpt1 is Soleyin PLA at 210 degrees Celsius. Soleyin is not a catalog row. 210 °C (410 °F) sits inside this nozzle. The fan line is the product page. | PLA | 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) | 25–60 °C (77–140 °F) | — | Datasheet | |
| 2 | ELEGOO · PLAELEGOO PLA lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 35–65 °C (95–149 °F). r/FixMyPrint 1h7vs34 is dry, calibrated PLA whose overhangs curl. The score-4 comment says curling comes from too little cooling or from too much cooling. | PLA | 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) | 35–65 °C (95–149 °F) | — | — | |
| 3 | Prusament · PETGPrusament PETG lists 240–260 °C (464–500 °F) and a bed of 70–90 °C (158–194 °F) in the Open Filament Database. r/FixMyPrint 1hql799 is PETG oozing under bridges. The score-11 comment says the filament is not cooling fast enough. The thread does not name Prusament. | PETG | 240–260 °C (464–500 °F) | 70–90 °C (158–194 °F) | — | Datasheet |

The rows
PolyLite PLA lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F), a bed of 25–60 °C (77–140 °F), 40–60 mm/s, and the fan on. ELEGOO PLA lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and 35–65 °C (95–149 °F). Prusament PETG lists 240–260 °C (464–500 °F) and 70–90 °C (158–194 °F) from the Open Filament Database. PLA and PETG are the hubs. Polymaker and Prusament are the brand indexes.
Bridges and overhangs
r/FixMyPrint 1jyzpt1 is Soleyin PLA at 210 degrees Celsius with a rough underside. The score-57 comment says use support, print slower, or cut the part in half and print each half flat on the bed. The score-13 comment says reduce layer height and increase line width, and says a 0.4 mm nozzle can go up to a 1 mm line because the overlap with the previous layer gets larger. 210 degrees Celsius is the post. 1 mm is the comment.
r/prusa3d 1ojzuoe is a PrusaSlicer bridge calibration. The filament pulls back before the bridge connects. The score-44 comment says the landing perimeter is too thin and may have shrunk away. The score-11 comment says the slicer is bridging along the walls because it does not see enough landing points, and says do not bridge onto one bridge layer. A score-3 comment says extra perimeters on overhangs fit this shape better than fighting the torture test.
r/FixMyPrint 1hql799 is PETG drooling under bridges. The score-11 comment says it is not cooling fast enough. A score-5 comment says blast the fan on those sections. A score-6 comment says the bridge direction may be across the gap and points at bridge angle. The thread does not name a PETG brand. The ranked PETG row is Prusament because it has a stored nozzle. It is not the spool in the photo.
r/FixMyPrint 1h7vs34 is dry, calibrated PLA. Overhang corners curl as the angle grows. The score-4 comment says too little cooling and too much cooling can both curl a corner, and leans toward slowing down so the part has time to cool. A score-2 comment says supports still leave an overhang, so the curl remains. Another score-2 comment fixed a similar PETG curl with the auxiliary fan at 50%. 50% is that comment.
r/BambuLab 1lbn9wq asks if a cantilever will print. The score-261 comment says use supports, and use gyroid or crosshatch instead of grid because grid crosses itself. The score-43 comment says grid piles up where the lines cross. The score-40 comment has PLA+ and has read about tree supports. That thread is an overhang. The supports guide is the page for the support half of the advice.
Pros and cons
Pros
- The bridge comments name geometry and cooling, which you can change without buying another polymer.
- PolyLite PLA is the ranked PLA row that already says the fan is on.
Cons
- No comment in this set ranks PLA against PETG, or any brand against another, for bridge span.
- The overhang thread's infill advice is about grid infill colliding with itself. It is not a bridge-angle setting.
Printer considerations
- On r/FixMyPrint 1jyzpt1 the score-57 comment says use support, print slower, or split the part and put the flat face on the bed. The score-13 comment says lower the layer height and raise the line width, and says a 0.4 mm nozzle can lay a line up to 1 mm. 1 mm is the comment.
- On r/prusa3d 1ojzuoe the bridge pulls back before it lands. The score-44 comment says the perimeter the bridge must grab is too thin, and that a bridge can shrink away from the next bridge. The score-11 comment says avoid bridging onto a single bridge layer.
- On r/BambuLab 1lbn9wq the question is a cantilever overhang, not a bridge test. The score-261 comment says use supports and avoid grid infill, and names gyroid or crosshatch. The score-40 comment has PLA+ and reads about tree supports.
What the community says
r/FixMyPrint 1jyzpt1 is ugly undersides in Soleyin PLA at 210 degrees Celsius. The score-57 comment says support it, slow it, or split it. The score-13 comment says a wider line and a shorter layer. r/prusa3d 1ojzuoe is a PrusaSlicer bridge test where the end of the bridge does not connect. The score-44 comment blames a thin landing wall. r/FixMyPrint 1hql799 is PETG oozing under bridges. The score-11 comment says it is not cooling fast enough. A score-6 comment says the bridges may be running across the gap instead of along it. r/FixMyPrint 1h7vs34 is PLA overhangs curling. The score-4 comment blames cooling in either direction. r/BambuLab 1lbn9wq is a cantilever. The score-261 comment wants supports and gyroid or crosshatch instead of grid.

Questions
What line width does the overhang comment allow?
The score-13 comment on r/FixMyPrint 1jyzpt1 says a 0.4 mm nozzle can lay a line up to 1 mm, because the wider line overlaps the layer below, and that a shorter layer height shrinks the overhang. 1 mm is the comment. It is not a catalog line width.
Does PolyLite PLA say to run the fan?
Yes. The product page lists the fan on, with a nozzle of 190–230 °C (374–446 °F), a bed of 25–60 °C (77–140 °F), and 40–60 mm/s. The PETG ooze thread's score-11 comment wants more cooling. That thread does not name PolyLite.
