# How do I print wood-filled filament?

Print wood-filled PLA on a 0.4 mm or larger nozzle at the row's PLA temperatures. Bambu lists PLA Wood at 190–240 °C (374–464 °F), marks 0.2 mm not compatible, and does not require a hardened nozzle. A 0.6 mm nozzle is a clog hedge from the fiber section of that guide, not a requirement on the wood row.

Use the wood row's PLA temperatures and a nozzle Bambu marks compatible: 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm, or 0.8 mm. Skip 0.2 mm. A hardened nozzle is not required for Bambu PLA Wood. ## The rows and the nozzle table

[Bambu PLA Wood](/brand/bambu-lab/pla-wood) lists 190–240 °C (374–464 °F) and a bed of 35–45 °C (95–113 °F). Drying on the row is 55 °C (131 °F) for 8 hours. [Bambu's filament guide](https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/general/filament-guide-material-table) lists the same 190–240 °C (374–464 °F), marks a hardened nozzle not required, marks 0.2 mm not compatible, and marks 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm compatible. The fiber section of that guide is a different rule: carbon, glass, marble, sparkle, and glow want hardened steel, and 0.6 mm is the first choice because it clogs less. PLA Wood is not in that list. If a 0.4 mm wood print clogs, the larger nozzle is the hedge that section describes. It is not a minimum on the wood row.

[Spectrum PLA Wood](/brand/spectrum/pla-wood) lists 190–220 °C (374–428 °F) and a bed of 0–45 °C (32–113 °F). [Fiberlogy FiberWood](/brand/fiberlogy/pla-fiberwood) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 50–70 °C (122–158 °F). [PLA](/material/pla) is the hub. [Bambu Lab](/brand/bambu-lab), [Spectrum](/brand/spectrum), and [Fiberlogy](/brand/fiberlogy) are the brand indexes. eSUN is named in the bank's brand list. The catalog wood row for eSUN has no nozzle or bed, so it is not ranked.

Bambu also says some PLA Wood is too brittle for AMS lite and can snap in the feed channel, while the AMS itself is listed as compatible. Dry the spool at the row's 55 °C (131 °F) for 8 hours before you decide the filament is the brittle kind. [PLA outdoors](/answers/pla_outdoor) is the page for a birdhouse that has to live in the weather. Wood fill does not get its own outdoor rating here.

## The threads

[r/3Dprinting 1w14zsq](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1w14zsq/) is a wood PLA birdhouse the poster says has lasted three years, with three walls and 30% gyroid. The score-361 comment is about the sparrows. The score-118 comment is about ordinary PLA in a car and a greenhouse. Neither one is a print setting.

[r/3Dprinting 1jl2esa](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1jl2esa/) asks how to finish wood PLA. The score-17 comment says use the finest layers you can and maybe a matte clear coat, and it says that suggestion is spitballing. [r/FixMyPrint zudhen](https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/comments/zudhen/) drew a score-53 comment about a dirty bed. No excerpt was supplied for the stringing and bumpy-wall threads, so this page does not invent a retraction or a layer height from them.

The score-118 comment is about plain PLA left in the sun, a dashboard, and a greenhouse, not about wood-fill settings. r/3Dprinting 1jl2esa asks for post-processing tips. The score-17 comment says print the finest layers you can and maybe use a matte clear coat, and it says that is spitballing. r/FixMyPrint zudhen's score-53 comment is about a dirty bed.
