# What filament should Voron parts be printed in?

Voron's materials page says the printed parts were designed around ABS and ASA shrinkage, so slicer shrinkage should stay at 100 percent. ABS is the primary recommendation on that page, and ASA is fully supported. PLA and PETG are not recommended there for structural parts. The glass-transition ranges on that page are Voron's, not a filament datasheet.

Print Voron structural parts in ABS or ASA. Voron designed the fits around the shrinkage of those two, and the materials page says to leave slicer shrinkage at 100 percent so bearing bores and screw holes do not grow. [How to print ABS](/answers/abs_print), [how to print ASA](/answers/asa_print), [enclosures](/answers/abs_enclosure), and [enclosure parts](/answers/enclosure_parts) are the setup pages.
## What Voron writes

The [materials page](https://docs.vorondesign.com/materials.html), read 27 October 2026, says chamber temperatures of 55–60 °C (131–140 °F) are common, and that the material should have a thermal-deformation temperature or glass-transition temperature of at least 80 °C (176 °F). Glass transition is the temperature where the plastic softens. The ranges below are Voron's, not a spool datasheet.

PLA is around 55–60 °C (131–140 °F) on that page, and it is not recommended, including for cracking. HTPLA can meet the temperature and still has the cracking note. PETG is around 70–80 °C (158–176 °F) and is not recommended. The page says carbon fiber does not change those thermal properties, and that some people bootstrap a machine in PETG and then reprint in ABS, with a high failure rate. PLA and PETG are both called acceptable for skirts and panel clips.

ABS is around 90–100 °C (194–212 °F) and is the primary recommendation. ASA is fully supported. ABS+ is described as closer to 75 °C (167 °F), and it is not recommended for new builds because the "plus" blend is not a single formula. PA6 is not recommended because it creeps under bolts. PA12 is called viable and expensive. Polycarbonate is given as 110–130 °C (230–266 °F) and is not recommended because it can crack, though the page says some toolheads have been printed in PC blends. Resin is strongly discouraged.

The [sourcing page](https://docs.vorondesign.com/sourcing.html) says chambers generally do not exceed 50–60 °C (122–140 °F). That is a slightly wider floor than the "commonly 55–60 °C (131–140 °F)" line. The same page says Voron will not support active chamber heating, and it gives fire as the reason. It also says PEEK and PEI need 100–130 °C (212–266 °F) chambers and that Voron printers are not designed for them.

Print settings on that page are a 0.2 mm layer height, a forced 0.4 mm extrusion width, 40 percent infill, 4 walls, 5 solid top and bottom layers, and no supports. Typical mass is about 1.5 kg of the primary color and 0.3 kg of the accent. Voron says to plan on 2 kg of the primary color.

The [first-print page](https://docs.vorondesign.com/build/slicer/first_print.html) says to use the temperatures that are correct for the filament you are using, and that a good ABS starting point is a 240 °C (464 °F) hotend, a 100 °C (212 °F) bed, and 92 percent flow.
## Filament sheets, kept separate

[PolyLite ABS](/brand/polymaker/polylite-abs) stores 230–260 °C (446–500 °F) and a bed of 90–110 °C (194–230 °F). Drying is 70 °C (158 °F) for 6 h, checked 18 October 2026. Glass transition on the heat dataset, checked 21 October 2026, is 101 °C (214 °F). Heat deflection is 100 °C (212 °F) at 0.45 MPa and 98 °C (208 °F) at 1.8 MPa, ISO 75. Voron's 240 °C (464 °F) and 100 °C (212 °F) starting point lands inside that catalog band. It is still Voron's starting point, not a Polymaker profile.

[PolyLite ASA](/brand/polymaker/polylite-asa) on the technical data sheet checked 21 October 2026 is a nozzle of 230–260 °C (446–500 °F) and a bed of 75–95 °C (167–203 °F), drying 70 °C (158 °F) for 7 h, heat deflection 103 °C (217 °F) at 0.45 MPa and 100 °C (212 °F) at 1.8 MPa. The catalog cell is 235–260 °C (455–500 °F) and a bed of 90–110 °C (194–230 °F). A 100 °C (212 °F) bed matches the first-print ABS note and the catalog ASA bed. It is above the datasheet bed of 75–95 °C (167–203 °F). Do not paste 100 °C (212 °F) onto that datasheet.

[Bambu ABS](/brand/bambu-lab/abs) stores 230–260 °C (446–500 °F) and a bed of 90–110 °C (194–230 °F) from the Open Filament Database, verified 13 October 2026, and drying at 80 °C (176 °F) for 8 h from its technical data sheet, checked 18 October 2026.

A comment asks for the chamber as high as possible. Voron's sourcing page is the limit that applies: chambers generally stay at 50–60 °C (122–140 °F), and Voron refuses an active chamber heater.
## What the community says

[a Reddit thread in r/3Dprinting](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/tag0y8/) says Voron parts are designed with ABS shrinkage in mind, along with the heat resistance of ABS on the motors and hotend.

[a Reddit thread in r/3Dprinting](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/tag0y8/) says ABS or ASA is the choice because of the extra heat resistance and because it does not suffer from creep.

[a Reddit thread in r/3Dprinting](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/u8yjm1/) says to use PVA glue, no fan, a brim, and a chamber as high as possible, and that big ABS parts are difficult.
