# How do sparkle and galaxy filaments print?

Bambu's filament guide puts PLA Sparkle with particle-filled PLA and wants a hardened steel nozzle, with 0.4 mm as the first choice for Bambu's own sparkle. The supplied comments say a 0.4 mm brass nozzle is fine because the particles are too small to feel. The sheets still list ordinary PLA temperatures.

Sparkle is a PLA temperature with a particle argument on top. [Silk](/answers/silk), [metal-filled filament](/answers/metal_fill), and [which nozzle](/answers/nozzle) already cover the look-alike cases. The temperatures below are the sheets. The nozzle instruction is the guide, and the comments disagree with it.
## Sheets, then the nozzle note

[Bambu PLA Sparkle](/brand/bambu-lab/pla-sparkle) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F), a bed of 35–45 °C (95–113 °F), and drying at 55 °C (131 °F) for 8 h. Diameter is 1.75 mm ± 0.03 mm. Sheet checked 18 October 2026. [Bambu PLA Galaxy](/brand/bambu-lab/pla-galaxy) lists the same nozzle, bed, and drying, plus a print speed up to 250 mm/s. [ELEGOO Galaxy PLA](/brand/elegoo/galaxy-pla) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F), a bed of 35–65 °C (95–149 °F), drying at 50 °C (122 °F) for 8 h, and speed up to 200 mm/s, product page checked 17 October 2026. [Prusament PLA](/brand/prusament/pla) lists 205–225 °C (401–437 °F) and a bed of 40–60 °C (104–140 °F), dataset imported 13 October 2026. Galaxy Black and Galaxy Purple are color names on that row.

Bambu's [filament guide](https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/general/filament-guide-material-table), read 25 October 2026, groups PLA Sparkle with marble, glow, and fiber fills. It says to use hardened steel. For most of those fills the first choice is 0.6 mm and the second is 0.4 mm. For Bambu PLA Sparkle the first choice is 0.4 mm hardened steel. The guide's standard-PLA definition includes silk and excludes sparkle. None of the four catalog rows stores hardened-nozzle as true. The guide is a separate page from the sheet.
## What the community says

[a Reddit thread in r/3Dprinting](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/10ehhnb/) says 0.4 mm brass should be fine because the manufacturer does not indicate hardened steel.

[a Reddit thread in r/3Dprinting](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/10ehhnb/): A comment says the particles cannot be felt and brass works.

[a Reddit thread in r/prusa3d](https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/15mzbf8/) prefers galaxy black or galaxy purple.
