# What nozzle and bed temperature should I use for PLA?

These PLA rows list 190–230 °C (374–446 °F).

Use the nozzle and bed on the PLA row you loaded. PolyLite PLA lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and 25–60 °C (77–140 °F), Prusament PLA lists 205–225 °C (401–437 °F) and 40–60 °C (104–140 °F), and ELEGOO PLA Basic lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and 35–65 °C (95–149 °F). These threads do not agree on one PLA setpoint.

Set PLA from the row on the spool, then use a temperature tower only after the printer is already calibrated. [PLA printing](/answers/pla_print) is the wider failure list. [Stringing](/answers/stringing) is the next place a wet spool shows up. [Drying](/answers/drying) has the drying temperatures.

## The three catalog windows

[PolyLite PLA](/brand/polymaker/polylite-pla) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) at the nozzle, 25–60 °C (77–140 °F) on the bed, and drying at 55 °C (131 °F) for 6 hours. [Prusament PLA](/brand/prusament/pla) lists 205–225 °C (401–437 °F) and 40–60 °C (104–140 °F). [ELEGOO PLA Basic](/brand/elegoo/pla-basic) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F), 35–65 °C (95–149 °F), and drying at 50 °C (122 °F) for 8 hours, stated on the US 10 kg page as 50 ± 5 °C (122 ± 9 °F). [PLA](/material/pla) is the material hub. [Polymaker](/brand/polymaker), [Prusament](/brand/prusament), and [ELEGOO](/brand/elegoo) are the brand pages.

## What the threads add

[r/FixMyPrint 10851fp](https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/comments/10851fp/) is a PLA temperature tower. The leading comment says check belt tension and eccentric nuts, dial in extruder esteps, and master bed leveling before another tower. A score-23 comment says the problem is not heat. A score-19 comment reads that tower as 195–200 and still says heat is not the main job. That 195–200 is one person's reading of one photo.

[r/BambuLab 11k02bp](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/11k02bp/) is warping PLA on PEI at 70C with cooling off for the first 10 layers. A comment says lower the bed to 50c. Another says turn the aux fan off. 50 °C (122 °F) sits inside all three beds above. 70 °C (158 °F) sits above all three. [Warping](/answers/warping) and [build plates](/answers/plate) cover the rest of that failure.

[r/3Dprinting 10uzk0w](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/10uzk0w/) already tried 230°, written as the max for PLA, after a new nozzle. The retrieved comments say heat creep, the PTFE tube, and a hotend fan that is not moving enough air. 230 °C (446 °F) is the top of the PolyLite and ELEGOO nozzles and above the Prusament maximum of 225 °C (437 °F).

[r/BambuLab 14i6cyd](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/14i6cyd/) is a second clog in two days at temp 230. A comment says stainless transfers heat worse than hardened steel and that 230C can still be too little for the flow the print wants, and it tells the printer to check the stainless-versus-hardened setting. Another comment treats repeated clogs as hotend cooling.

[r/3Dprinting t5hl5s](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/t5hl5s/) is melted scrap, not a print. A retrieved comment says not to melt plastic in an appliance used for food.

## What the community says

r/FixMyPrint 10851fp asks what a PLA temperature tower says. The score-114 comment lists belt tension, eccentric nuts, esteps, and bed leveling before another tower. A short comment says the problem is not heat. Another reads the tower as 195–200 and still says that is not the primary focus. r/3Dprinting 10uzk0w is ground filament after the poster tried 230° as a PLA maximum. Comments name heat creep and the hotend fan. r/BambuLab 14i6cyd is a second clog in two days at temp 230. A comment says a stainless nozzle can miss the flow the print is asking for even at 230C, and tells the printer to check the stainless-versus-hardened setting. Another comment calls constant clogging a cooling problem. r/BambuLab 11k02bp is PLA warping on PEI at 70C with no cooling for ten layers. Comments include turning the aux fan off and lowering the bed to 50c. r/3Dprinting t5hl5s is baked scrap. A retrieved comment says do not melt plastic in an appliance you cook with.
