# What filaments can the Bambu P1S, P1P, and X1C print?

PLA, PETG, and TPU fit the P1S, P1P, and X1 Carbon. ABS and ASA want the enclosed P1S or the X1 Carbon, not the open-frame P1P. Carbon-fiber and glass-fiber need a hardened nozzle: the X1 Carbon record has one, and the P1S record still says stainless steel until the extruder and hotend are upgraded.

Match the spool to the machine you have, then to the temperatures on that spool. The three printers do not have the same shell or the same nozzle.

## PLA, PETG, and TPU

[PLA Basic](/brand/bambu-lab/pla-basic) is the uneventful fit. Its sheet lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) at the nozzle and 35–45 °C (95–113 °F) on the bed, under every hotend and bed maximum stored for these three machines.

[PolyLite PETG](/brand/polymaker/polylite-petg) stores 220–250 °C (428–482 °F) and a bed of 70–90 °C (158–194 °F). That bed fits the P1S and P1P maximum of 100 °C (212 °F).

TPU is in the consensus. [Bambu TPU 90A](/brand/bambu-lab/tpu-90a) stores a nozzle of 200–250 °C (392–482 °F) and a bed of 30–35 °C (86–95 °F). Ordinary TPU is a bad AMS load. Read [which filaments work in the AMS](/answers/ams) and [flexible filament](/answers/flex) before you feed it from the hub.

## ABS and ASA

The consensus treats ABS and ASA as enclosed prints. The [P1S](/printer/bambu-lab-p1s) record describes a fully enclosed body. The [P1P](/printer/bambu-lab-p1p) record says open frame. The [X1 Carbon](/printer/bambu-lab-x1-carbon) record leaves enclosure empty, so this page does not call that PDF an enclosure claim.

[Bambu ASA](/brand/bambu-lab/asa) stores a bed of 90–110 °C (194–230 °F). Only the part of that range at or below 100 °C (212 °F) fits the P1S and P1P. The X1 Carbon stored maximum is 110 °C (230 °F). [Bambu ABS](/brand/bambu-lab/abs) stores the same 90–110 °C (194–230 °F) bed pattern and a nozzle of 230–260 °C (446–500 °F). Heat behavior of these materials is on [heat resistance](/answers/heat).

## Fiber grades

[PA6-CF](/brand/bambu-lab/pa6-cf) stores hardened nozzle as true, a nozzle of 250–290 °C (482–554 °F), and a bed of 80–100 °C (176–212 °F). The X1 Carbon record lists a hardened steel nozzle. The P1S and P1P records list stainless steel. Bambu’s P1S note says fiber-reinforced filament is not recommended until the extruder and hotend are upgraded. A forum line about newer P1S revisions does not overwrite that record. The [carbon-fiber guide](/answers/cf) is the wear warning for brass and stainless.

## What the community says

The consensus is that the P1S and X1 Carbon handle PLA, PETG, TPU, and enclosed ABS or ASA, and that carbon-fiber or glass-fiber filament needs a hardened nozzle, described there as stock on the X1 Carbon and on newer P1S revisions. The caveat in the same bank is that the P1P is an open frame. The printer records do not confirm a stock hardened nozzle on the P1S.
