# What filaments work in the Prusa MMU?

PLA and PETG can stay in the MMU3 loop for a single-filament print. The practical TPU reply on the MMU3 thread is to bypass the MMU and print as a plain MK4.

PLA and PETG can stay in the MMU3 loop for a single-filament print. The practical TPU reply on the MMU3 thread is to bypass the MMU and print as a plain MK4.

The MMU3 path in these threads is for ordinary rigid filament. TPU is the material the practical reply takes out of the path.

## PLA and PETG on an MK4S with MMU3

The [MK4S](/printer/prusa-mk4s) stores a 290 °C (554 °F) nozzle, a 120 °C (248 °F) bed, a brass CHT nozzle, and optional MMU3. [Prusament PLA](/brand/prusament/pla) lists 205–225 °C (401–437 °F) and a bed of 40–60 °C (104–140 °F). [Prusament PETG](/brand/prusament/petg) lists 240–260 °C (464–500 °F) and a bed of 70–90 °C (158–194 °F). [PolyLite PLA](/brand/polymaker/polylite-pla) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 25–60 °C (77–140 °F). [SUNLU PLA](/brand/sunlu/pla) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 50–70 °C (122–158 °F). What the MK4S and CORE One+ can hold is on [MK4 filament](/answers/mk4_filament). The Bambu hub is a different machine: [AMS filaments](/answers/ams).

[r/prusa3d 1clmrgl](https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/1clmrgl/) is single-filament mode. The score-10 reply leaves the MMU connected and selects one slot, because the MMU waits until the nozzle is at temperature. A score-2 reply says the scrap piece is the length of the front PTFE tube. That length is the comment.

## TPU

[r/prusa3d 1f64oe3](https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/1f64oe3/) asks how people print TPU on the MMU3. The score-10 reply disables the MMU3, pulls the bowden, and prints as a plain MK4. A score-9 reply has run Ninjaflex through an MMU3 while watching the start. Ninjaflex is not a catalog product. A score-3 reply wants a different support material because TPU supports are hard to remove. [TPU](/material/tpu) temperatures live on the flexible-filament pages, not as an MMU ranking here.

## Threads that are not a filament list

[r/FixMyPrint uitndx](https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/comments/uitndx/) is dark-to-light bleeding on an MMU2S. The score-96 reply is a Kenny joke. This page does not take a purge number from that thread.

[r/prusa3d 139j5ic](https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/139j5ic/) explains the second spool in Prusa photos. The score-90 reply is a manual swap. A score-37 reply changes filament at a layer for signs. That workflow is on [multicolor printing](/answers/multicolor).

[r/prusa3d 12bjj46](https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/12bjj46/) is a buffer that grinds filament. The poster uses 3 mm ID bowden and a straight section before the MMU. Replies talk about drag on the wheel. [PLA](/material/pla) and [PETG](/material/petg) are the material pages. [Prusament](/brand/prusament) is the brand index.

## What the community says

r/FixMyPrint uitndx asks for help going from dark filament to white on an MMU2S on an i3 MK3S+. The post is deleted. The score-96 reply is a Kenny joke, and the next replies continue it. r/prusa3d 139j5ic asks why official photos show two spools on printers that need an MMU for multi-material. The score-90 reply says the holder has room for two spools and that you can swap by hand. A score-37 reply uses the second spool to change filament at a layer for signs. A score-29 reply does the same for two-color prints. r/prusa3d 1f64oe3 asks how people print TPU on the MMU3. The score-10 reply bypasses the MMU3, disables it, removes the bowden, and prints as a plain MK4. A score-9 reply babysits Ninjaflex at the start. A score-3 reply wants TPU supports and finds them hard to remove. r/prusa3d 1clmrgl asks what to do with an MMU3 on mostly single-filament jobs. The score-10 reply leaves it in the path and picks one slot. A score-8 reply uses spool-join. A score-2 reply says the scrap equals the front PTFE tube. r/prusa3d 12bjj46 is a buffer that reintroduced grinding. Replies talk about wheel drag, a straight tube into the MMU, and 3 mm ID bowden.
