# What filament survives engine-bay temperatures?

On sheets checked 21 October 2026, Fiberon PA6-CF20 lists heat deflection of 215 °C (419 °F) at 0.45 MPa and 173 °C (343 °F) at 1.8 MPa, PolyLite PC lists 111 °C (232 °F) and 107 °C (225 °F), and PolyLite ASA lists 103 °C (217 °F) and 100 °C (212 °F). No page states an engine-bay temperature, so nothing here is certified for an engine bay. PolyLite PLA lists 60 °C (140 °F) at 0.45 MPa. Those are specimen tests, not a running engine.

An engine bay is hotter than a cabin in the sun, and this batch never states how much hotter. [Heat](/answers/heat) is the general page. [Car interior](/answers/car-interior) is the dash and the cup holder. [Nylon](/answers/nylon) and [polycarbonate](/answers/pc) are the print process for those families. Do not copy a cabin recommendation onto a part that sees oil.
## The heat-deflection numbers

[Fiberon PA6-CF20](/brand/fiberon/pa6-cf20) lists a nozzle of 280–300 °C (536–572 °F), a bed of 40–50 °C (104–122 °F), drying at 100 °C (212 °F) for 10 h, and heat deflection of 215 °C (419 °F) at 0.45 MPa and 173 °C (343 °F) at 1.8 MPa. The hardened-nozzle cell is yes. All of that is TDS V1.1, checked 21 October 2026. [PolyLite PC](/brand/polymaker/polylite-pc) stores 260–300 °C (500–572 °F) and 100–120 °C (212–248 °F) from the Open Filament Database. Its TDS, checked the same day, lists 111 °C (232 °F) at 0.45 MPa and 107 °C (225 °F) at 1.8 MPa. [PolyLite ASA](/brand/polymaker/polylite-asa) lists 230–260 °C (446–500 °F), 75–95 °C (167–203 °F), drying at 70 °C (158 °F) for 7 h, and 103 °C (217 °F) at 0.45 MPa and 100 °C (212 °F) at 1.8 MPa. [PolyLite PLA](/brand/polymaker/polylite-pla) lists 60 °C (140 °F) at 0.45 MPa and 58 °C (136 °F) at 1.8 MPa on the TDS checked 21 October 2026. The table is the [heat-resistance dataset](/data/filament-heat-resistance).
