# What filament should I use for printer upgrade parts/enclosure parts?

These five threads never name a polymer for a hotend part. Use PETG when the printer can hold a PETG bed, and use ABS or ASA only on a machine that can hold a 90 °C (194 °F) bed or hotter and a stable chamber.

These five threads never name a polymer for a hotend part. Use PETG when the printer can hold a PETG bed, and use ABS or ASA only on a machine that can hold a 90 °C (194 °F) bed or hotter and a stable chamber.

Printer spares split into parts that only have to hold their shape and parts that sit near a hotend or a warm chamber. The second group follows the spool's bed, not a forum slogan.

## What the threads actually are

[r/ender3 11cvamb](https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3/comments/11cvamb/) is a receipt joke. Replies list extruders, beds, and extra printers. [r/ender3 13tdz82](https://www.reddit.com/r/ender3/comments/13tdz82/) is TPU tires and a printed extruder on a stock Ender 3, with replies about grip. [r/3Dprinting x1vvuv](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/x1vvuv/) is a search for a lost extruder model. None of those three names a polymer for the part that gets hot.

[r/FixMyPrint 13jwnhx](https://www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/comments/13jwnhx/) is eSUN matte PLA at 210 °C (410 °F) on an Ender 3 V2. The score-52 reply says the nozzle is too close. [eSUN PLA-Matte](/brand/esun-3d/pla-matte) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 50–70 °C (122–158 °F), so 210 °C (410 °F) is inside the nozzle. Drying is empty on that row. The thread is not a recommendation to print hotend parts in PLA.

[r/BambuLab 1k2sa6l](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1k2sa6l/) asks if a PLA-only user should leave an A1. A score-36 reply says a P1S is more stable for tall parts and that the enclosure can hurt PLA if the chamber gets too hot.

## Temperatures that fit a real printer

[PolyLite PETG](/brand/polymaker/polylite-petg) lists 220–250 °C (428–482 °F) and a bed of 70–90 °C (158–194 °F), with drying at 65 °C (149 °F) for 6 h. The [A1](/printer/bambu-lab-a1) bed of 100 °C (212 °F) can hold that. The [A1 mini](/printer/bambu-lab-a1-mini) bed of 80 °C (176 °F) can hold only the bottom of it.

[PolyLite ABS](/brand/polymaker/polylite-abs) and [Bambu ABS](/brand/bambu-lab/abs) list beds of 90–110 °C (194–230 °F). [Prusament ASA](/brand/prusament/asa) lists 250–270 °C (482–518 °F) and a bed of 100–120 °C (212–248 °F). The [MK4S](/printer/prusa-mk4s) stores a 120 °C (248 °F) bed and an optional enclosure, so those beds fit. The A1 mini bed of 80 °C (176 °F) does not. How to print them is on [ABS printing](/answers/abs_print), [ASA printing](/answers/asa_print), [heat resistance](/answers/heat), and [ABS and ASA enclosures](/answers/abs_enclosure). [PETG](/material/petg), [ABS](/material/abs), and [ASA](/material/asa) are the material pages.

## What the community says

r/ender3 11cvamb is a joke about hobby spending. The leading replies list more printers, filament, and upgrades such as an extruder, a glass bed, and a dual-Z kit. They do not name a polymer. r/FixMyPrint 13jwnhx is eSUN matte PLA at 210 °C (410 °F) on an Ender 3 V2 with a glass bed. The score-52 reply says the nozzle is too close and to calibrate e-steps, tram, Z offset, and flow. r/ender3 13tdz82 is a first TPU tire print and a printed extruder upgrade on a stock Ender 3. Replies talk about grip and ask for the STL. r/BambuLab 1k2sa6l asks whether a PLA-only user should leave an A1 for a P1S or X1C. The score-36 reply says not really, and that an enclosure can hurt PLA if it gets too hot. r/3Dprinting x1vvuv is a lost Thingiverse extruder file for an Ender 3 V2. A reply finds a similar model. No polymer is named.
