# Is Bambu Lab filament worth it vs third-party filament on Bambu printers?

These PLA rows list 190–230 °C (374–446 °F).

Third-party PLA is what these threads actually run on Bambu printers. The high-score comments treat Bambu filament as RFID and a built-in profile, and they argue about price and batch color.

Buy Bambu filament when you want the spool to identify itself. Buy another PLA when the print only needs a nozzle in the 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) band. [P1S filament](/answers/p1s_filament), [AMS](/answers/ams), [profiles](/answers/profiles), and [budget filament](/answers/cheap) are the neighboring pages. [Polymaker](/answers/brand_polymaker) is the brand the color thread names next.

## The rows

The [US store page](https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/pla-basic-filament) says the parameters sit in RFID and are read through the AMS. It lists diameter 1.75 mm ± 0.03 mm. [PolyLite PLA](/brand/polymaker/polylite-pla) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F), a bed of 25–60 °C (77–140 °F), and 40–60 mm/s on the [Polymaker page](https://shop.polymaker.com/products/polylite-pla). ## What the threads say

[r/BambuLab 1d6kn08](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1d6kn08/) is a P1S owner who likes Bambu filament and the automatic AMS identification, and who sees other brands in posted photos. The score-228 comment says Bambu costs about double that person's Sunlu, written as $12–$13/kg, and is not worth the premium. A score-58 comment says four refills at a time were about $16.99. Those prices are the comments.

[r/BambuLab 1g1h5qo](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1g1h5qo/) shows a color step in one charcoal matte sign after the roll ran out and the printer switched. The score-200 comment says Bambu Matte tracks PolyTerra, including batch drift. The score-157 comment says buy PolyTerra for matte and PolyLite for the rest. PolyTerra is not its own row here. PolyLite PLA is.

[r/BambuLab 1vjmhcs](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1vjmhcs/) is a buying strategy. The score-160 comment asks why insist on Bambu filament when other filament works as well. The score-90 comment stays for presets, RFID, and bulk pricing. A score-39 comment cites £9.50 a refill in the UK. That figure is the comment.

[r/BambuLab 1nxvzik](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1nxvzik/) is Bambu filament at Best Buy. The score-61 comment treats the store as the emergency spool and buys six or more refills for the bulk price.

[r/BambuLab 1gbrf0d](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1gbrf0d/) is the direct question: do other brands work on a P1S. The score-24 comment uses Sunlu PLA Meta at 200C and a 0.2 nozzle. The score-23 comment uses the generic profile. The score-10 comment uses Sunlu PLA, PLA Matte, PLA Meta, and PETG. The [P1S](/printer/bambu-lab-p1s) record is the printer page.
