# How do I print ASA successfully?

Print ASA in a draft-free enclosure with ventilation, and use the nozzle and bed on that spool's catalog row when the part lives outdoors or in a car.

Treat ASA as the outdoor ABS-class print. Keep drafts off the part, ventilate the room, and read the spool row before you type a temperature. [ASA](/material/asa) is the material hub.

## Nozzle and bed

[Bambu Lab ASA](/brand/bambu-lab/asa), [PolyLite ASA](/brand/polymaker/polylite-asa), and [ELEGOO ASA](/brand/elegoo/asa) each list 235–260 °C (455–500 °F) and 90–110 °C (194–230 °F). [Prusament ASA](/brand/prusament/asa) lists 250–270 °C (482–518 °F) and 100–120 °C (212–248 °F). The editorial 240–260 °C (464–500 °F) band is not a fifth row. [ABS printing](/answers/abs_print) uses the same enclosure process on ABS rows that list 230–260 °C (446–500 °F).

## Ventilation

A comment on r/prusa3d 1lsmbru says the setup can work and still asks for real ventilation, because styrene is bad. That is the fume note. This page does not add a chamber temperature.

## Outdoors and cars

Use ASA when the part lives in the sun or in a car. [Outdoor filament](/answers/outdoor) ranks ASA first. [Can PLA be used outdoors?](/answers/pla_outdoor) is the PLA-specific limit. A comment on r/3Dprinting 1vsqef3 answers yes to ASA for outdoor sun, no cover, and a load. Neither page publishes a UV-hours test.

## Drying and warp

Bambu ASA lists drying at 80 °C (176 °F) for 8 h. The other three rows do not. [Drying](/answers/drying) is the general method. [Warping](/answers/warping) is corner lift on ABS and ASA. The bank also lists r/BambuLab 1vj3wsm, 1f4vmbq, and 1iea7jq. The supplied excerpts do not include a temperature from those three threads.

## What the community says

The editorial summary says ASA prints like ABS, with an enclosure, 240–260 °C (464–500 °F), and a 90–110 °C (194–230 °F) bed, and that it is the outdoor and in-car material. The bed band matches the Bambu, PolyLite, and ELEGOO rows. The nozzle band does not match them, and it does not match Prusament ASA. A comment on r/3Dprinting 1vsqef3 treats outdoor sun, no cover, and a load as a reason to move off PLA. A comment on r/prusa3d 1lsmbru asks for ventilation because styrene is bad. The bank's caveats field is empty.
