# What filaments can the Bambu A1 / A1 mini print?

PLA, PETG, and TPU fit the stored A1 and A1 mini nozzle and bed limits. ABS and ASA list beds that run past the A1 maximum of 100 °C (212 °F) and the A1 mini maximum of 80 °C (176 °F), and the A1 poster says they cannot print ABS because the machine has no enclosure.

Match the spool to the A1 or A1 mini you have. The two machines share a 300 °C (572 °F) hotend and a stainless steel nozzle. They do not share a bed maximum.

## PLA and PETG

[PLA Basic](/brand/bambu-lab/pla-basic) lists 190–230 °C (374–446 °F) and a bed of 35–45 °C (95–113 °F). That bed fits the [A1](/printer/bambu-lab-a1) maximum of 100 °C (212 °F) and the [A1 mini](/printer/bambu-lab-a1-mini) maximum of 80 °C (176 °F).

[PETG HF](/brand/bambu-lab/petg-hf) lists 230–260 °C (446–500 °F) and a bed of 65–75 °C (149–167 °F), with drying at 65 °C (149 °F) for 8 h. On [r/BambuLab 1kplic3](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1kplic3/) the poster cannot print ABS and asks if PETG will survive in a car. Replies treat sun on the part as the risk, and two of them report multi-year PETG parts in vehicles. Those are anecdotes. [PETG](/material/petg) and [PLA](/material/pla) are the material pages. The enclosed P1S and X1 Carbon comparison is [what those machines print](/answers/p1s_filament).

On [r/BambuLab 1ke4vl6](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1ke4vl6/) the leading comment tells the A1 owner to dry the PETG. A reply says leftover PLA in the hotend and PETG do not mix.

## TPU

[r/BambuLab 1lyrd5i](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1lyrd5i/) and [r/BambuLab 1jrz7xv](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1jrz7xv/) are first TPU prints. The practical replies are a generic TPU profile, a dry spool, a short PTFE path, and a dry box. One reply says not to feed TPU straight out of a running dryer because it gets too soft. [TPU for AMS](/brand/bambu-lab/tpu-for-ams) lists 220–240 °C (428–464 °F), a bed of 30–35 °C (86–95 °F), and drying at 70 °C (158 °F) for 8 h. [TPU 90A](/brand/bambu-lab/tpu-90a) lists 200–250 °C (392–482 °F) and the same 30–35 °C (86–95 °F) bed. Read [which filaments work in the AMS](/answers/ams), [TPU on a Bambu printer](/answers/tpu_ams), and [Bambu filament](/answers/bambu_filament) before you put a flexible spool in the hub.

Plate advice in these threads disagrees. One reply says a smooth plate without glue will tear when TPU is pulled off. The leading reply on [r/BambuLab 1ngnb0h](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1ngnb0h/) wants smooth PEI plus glue because textured PEI grips too hard. Another reply printed 90A on textured PEI with no glue. A reply on that plate thread says TPU does not need an enclosure, and that a closed chamber should be opened so the filament does not soften before the extruder.

## ABS and ASA

[Bambu ABS](/brand/bambu-lab/abs) and [Bambu ASA](/brand/bambu-lab/asa) each list a bed of 90–110 °C (194–230 °F). The A1 bed stops at 100 °C (212 °F). The A1 mini bed stops at 80 °C (176 °F), which is under the bottom of that range. The poster on 1kplic3 says the A1 has no enclosure, so they are not printing ABS. A score-19 reply disagrees and says to avoid drafts. This page does not turn that reply into a small-part ABS recipe. The [Bambu Lab](/brand/bambu-lab) brand index is the rest of the spool list.

## What the community says

r/BambuLab 1kplic3 is an A1 part for a car. The poster says they cannot print ABS because there is no enclosure and asks whether PETG will survive. The leading comment says the cabin-air risk is the sun eating the part. Two replies report PETG parts that have lasted years in a vehicle, one of them in Texas heat, and one of those replies says a headrest hanger still holds 5 kg water bottles. A score-22 reply says ABS or ASA would hold up better in a hot car and that PETG is a better trial than PLA. A score-19 reply says ABS is possible on an A1 if drafts are avoided. r/BambuLab 1lyrd5i and 1jrz7xv are first TPU prints on the A1 and A1 mini. The leading reply on 1lyrd5i is to load TPU, choose a generic TPU profile, and print. Replies disagree on glue: one says never print TPU on a smooth plate without glue, one always uses glue on textured PEI, and one printed 90A on textured PEI with no glue. Drying replies say to dry TPU, keep the PTFE path short, print from a dry box, and not to print out of a dryer because the filament gets too soft. r/BambuLab 1ke4vl6 is rough A1 PETG. The leading comment says to dry it. A reply says PLA residue and PETG do not mix. r/BambuLab 1ngnb0h is TPU stuck too hard to textured PEI on an A1 mini. The leading reply is smooth PEI plus glue as an interface. A reply says TPU does not need an enclosure and that a closed chamber should be opened to limit heat creep.
